Miloš Pavlović on the preparations for Luka Kostić's winning placements

Luka Kostić's winning placements in the singles and doubles category were part of the most important June events for our club! At the Tennis Europe international tournament in Bitola, Luka was accompanied by our Miloš Pavlović, Luka's coach who helped him to maintain his readiness at the highest level. That's why we asked Miloš to briefly comment on these two victories. Watch our conversation below.

How did you prepare this time and did you notice Luka's progress during the preparations?

Miloš Pavlović: Our preparations were really normal. This was one in a series of tournaments for Luka - of course, we worked on the shortcomings that we noticed in the previous tournaments and tried to correct them all.At this moment in the game, it was very important for Luka to go to tournaments again and again because under those circumstances we could best see what was missing. We are happy that we managed to correct it this time and I would say that Luka has outdone himself in that sense. Exactly where it should be - on the field.

"In the last few tournaments, he managed to reach the semi-finals and then he kind of froze, in a certain sense paralyzed. This time he had some crisis moments again, but he managed to overcome them and play the way he should. I'm really proud of that."

Did he surprise you with anything this time at the tournament itself? How satisfied are you with his game?

Miloš Pavlović: I am very satisfied. And not because of the results, but because he adopted most of the technical and tactical things that we talked about a lot in the previous period. I can't say that I was particularly surprised by the complete game - he is a good player and we know that. And he knows that, that's why we work hard together. However, perhaps I was surprised that he overcame a mental barrier of his that I have also noticed lately. In the last few tournaments, he managed to reach the semi-finals and then he somehow froze, in a certain sense paralyzed. This time he had some crisis moments again, but he managed to overcome them and play as it should be. I'm really proud of that.

Did you feel nervous this time and do you generally feel nervous when the players you train with compete?

Miloš Pavlović: Well, there is always positive nervousness and nervousness during the match, but of course I try not to let the player notice it, but to act as relaxed and confident as possible.

You teach your players every day. What did you learn from them?

Miloš Pavlović: Definitely their desire to progress and to be better than you were every time you step out onto the field.

And finally, the summer season is coming, what plans does the club have in the coming period?

Miloš Pavlović: Well, the plans remain at the same high level as before. To devote ourselves to every training session and every player and follow them.Soon we have preparations in Zlatibor, so I hope that our competitors will reach a new level of form there, so that the second part of the season passes, at least, as well as until now.
